Our founder Rob is obsessed with pants. As a small child growing up in the windswept wastes of the North, the only thing keeping him from freezing to death in the winter was a good pair of knitted long johns. They were scratchy, but they kept him alive. To this day, he remembers how his gran would knit them for him. “We weren’t poor but we didn’t like to throw away good fabric. When my family’s y-fronts wore down, my gran would unravel them and use the yarn to knit us long johns, thermals and the occasional g-string for the lasses,” he says with a tear in his eye. "They were good times."

It was the experience of trawling around the shops, looking for the right underwear and never finding it that gave Rob the inspiration he needed. "Everything was either too technical, too cheap to last or just plain ugly. What’s wrong with just a simple brief that gives you the support you need, feels good against the skin and doesn’t break the bank?"

I DON’T WANT TO BE SPENDING HOURS LOOKING FOR GOOD, SIMPLE UNDERWEAR THAT’S COMFORTABLE AND DOESN’T COST AN ARM AND A LEG

After a bit of jockey-searching, he realised he needed more information and so founded the International Pants Institute. Through extensive data-collection and analysis, they discovered the perfect number of new pants needed per month depending on each person’s activity level. From that insight, he approached designers who understood the shape of a man’s particular needs, travelled the world to find the best materials and scoured Asia for the best factories. And now, he gives to you the fruits of his labours - the Box & Scandal Everyday Pants. Comfortable, easy and dependable. Because, as he says, to be truly free, you first need to look after your bottom-line.
